Gathering of the Gods by genocyber Gathering of the Gods by genocyber
I almost gave up drawing this three times due to my lack of willpower.Mighty Cthulhu and his Dagon minions rising from the depths of R'yleh summoned forth by The Yellow King.

I wanted to make Cthulhu look all rotten and half decayed since he has been sitting on the bottom of the ocean decomposing for thousands of years.Tumors and lumps riddling his body to emphasize his corruption on life that he brings.

What's hilarious is that Cthulhu and the King are possibly half-brothers.

"Oh come on bro, what the hell are you waking me up for?"

Lovecraft scares the bejesus out of me no matter what style it's drawn in. Just seeing this conjures up horrifying thoughts about his chaotic universe that make me shrivel up in fear.

Greetings, Geno.

Hmm, so, an image rich with life and depth via the shades of darkeness and exposed light... Yes, I like this and it's immediate contrast.

I had never quite known the essence of rot to be applied to the visage of Cthulhu. I find this quite agreeable; a new element applied to the ageless beast. Cthulhu, a great entity from the cold and foreign unknown, comprised of alien matter, stranded deep in the abyss of the Earth - decaying in a way no worldly creature could.

The choice of dark shades works very well, Geno. It casues one to search for the subtleties of the image. In addition, the poses of the Dagon beasts, more specifically the one on the left, add a sense of vicious motion to the image, much complimenting the frontal, still, looming presence of Cthulhu itself.

The chasms and dark pits in Cthulhu's great body, crowning his back where he does not see, lanced through his midsection and across his vitals, are a fascinating addition.

An interesting and striking piece for it's relative simplicity, Geno. Well done.
